“Control your fate or somebody else will.” - Heinrich von Pierer

[My boyfriend got me these gorgeous flowers for my birthday yesterday (well, I suppose it's technically two days ago since I'm uploading this so late), and I immediately knew I needed to use them in a photo, so, voila!

As a little girl, I certainly partook in the whole "he loves me, he loves me not" flower-demolishing game (mind you, I only did it once, and YES that is a point of pride for me ;P). I wiki'd it today and found out it is a game of French origin! Anyhoo, I remember thinking it was all so silly. That if I wanted, couldn't I just pluck another flower and play the game again, until I got the results I wanted? Yes. I could do exactly that. While the idea of fate has always been very mysterious and romantic to me, I do believe we have an unbelievable amount of control over who we are and what we do with life.]

I like the combination of you standing with your back facing the camera and the disintegrating flower facing the camera. To me, it symbolizes breaking free from the fact that someone is controlling your destiny. You have pushed the flower away, behind your back, thus breaking the harmful tether.
The way the petals fly away in the wind looks beautiful and detailed. That's actually all I can say from a technical aspect, because the execution of this piece is absolutely flawless. Colours, exposure, depth of field—everything. :)
