I thought this week couldn't get any better, and then...

Recently, one of my cosplay photos was selected out of over 15,000 entries to be a part of deviantART's charity event at San Diego Comic-con, for the Shriner Burn Hospital (a hospital that provides burn care for children). The dA admin told me it was a finalist a few weeks ago, but I lost communication after giving her the consent forms she requested. As it turns out, it did indeed make it in!!

ANYWAY, my father is there, and his wife snagged this shot of my photo, hanging up at SDCC and being auctioned off!! Twisted Esmerelda. It's received bids up to $100 last I checked, and I hope it gets more, as 100% of the proceeds go to the hospital! I feel absolutely honored to have my work going toward an awesome cause. The spectacular model is one of my best friends, and I did the makeup you see here as well as the photo and postprocessing. She did a phenomenal job portraying Twisted Esmerelda! (Based off of the conceptual series of Twisted Disney princesses created by the very talented Jeffrey Thomas.)

If any of you are attending San Diego Comic-con, definitely check out the art show on the second floor near registration, and take a peek at all of the amazing art in there!

YAYAY!! I hope it went for much more, too! It's such a good cause! Besides, that picture is stunning and well deserved of getting tapped for the con :)

Yayayyyyyy, thank you! It ended up having five bids and going for $130, which was pretty good because apparently some of the prints had no bids in the end. =( But I'm glad money was raised and hopefully it went to a good home! I definitely hope to be a part of more charity events in the future.

I think all the art should've had at least one bid. Even if it was a con chair pulling from their own pocket.

Good causes are wonderful, and I can safely say Toys for Tots gets $100 from my Christmas paycheck because all children are good and deserve something to open under the tree.

Yeah, I agree. It was disappointing to hear that some didn't get bid on. I wonder how many pieces there were total. There seems to be a shroud of mystery around the whole event...

Such an awesome concept and a great "twist" to the childhood princesses I grew up watching. Scared my coworkers to see their favorite princesses being portrayed as villainous characters. Also, you're welcome.

Yeah, Jeffrey is great! We had so much fun cosplaying as his princesses. I was Twisted Alice. =)
